The Center for Educating Critically is
dedicated to advancing anti-oppression education
by integrating theory, research, and practices
that actively challenge systems of injustice in schools
through a lens of intersectionality.

The continuous interrogation of history, research, and practice through questioning lies at the core of the work of the Center for Educating Critically. Our approach fosters a deep understanding of the past and present and empowers educators and students to challenge and dismantle oppressive systems and construct educational possibilities.

What is Intersectionality?

“Intersectionality” is a legal framework coined by Kimberlé Crenshaw related to, and extending, critical race theory.
It states that the multiple dimensions of identities combine to create different modes of oppression and privilege.
These aspects are important for understanding how power works and what anti-oppression means.

Our work, like our center, is being developed. Stay tuned … we will announce updates as they occur.
